Recognised as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco since 2008, the duduk is a folk instrument with a warm, slightly nasal timbre and a strongly evocative sound, used to accompany both joyful and sad songs, dances and celebrations throughout Armenia. Some even say that the sound of the duduk is suggestive of the inflections of all the traditional Armenian dialects.
Gevorg Dabaghyan is a profound lover of and the greatest living expert on this ancient instrument, an internationally acclaimed musician committed to preserving Armenia’s rich folk heritage. During his already more than three decades of professional career, Maestro Dabaghyan performed also in dialogue with world-famous musicians as Yo-Yo Ma, Gidon Kremer and Jan Garbarek.
With his trio, he will hold a concert at Rovereto’s Campana dei Caduti, where he will invite the audience on a sound journey that mixes folk and sacred music, to hear his duduk tell stories of the tears of ancient peoples and the laughter of children, of defeats in battle and wedding dances.
To reach the Campana dei Caduti there is a Trentino Trasporti shuttle bus service. Departure is at 5.50 pm from the Corso Rosmini Posta stop.
In case of rain, the concert will be performed inside the Campana dei Caduti.
