About Karen Hakobyan
EthnicTune showcases the authentic Armenian duduk crafted by Karen Hakobyan, a renowned musician whose duduks are favored by performers like Djivan Gasparyan and Pedro Estache. Karen Hakobyan's duduk was famously featured in the Gladiator film soundtrack performed by Maestro Djivan Gasparyan. Graduating from a music school's piano department, Karen continued his studies in national instruments at the Pedagogical Institute in Yerevan.
Starting as a student performing concerts in various countries, he later joined the Armenian State Ensemble for National Instruments as a shvi, a traditional Armenian instrument player. In 1982, the national wind ensemble Tkzar was founded by Karlen Mirzoyan to preserve Armenian culture through traditional and modern instruments. Karen Hakobyan joined the ensemble in 1985, captivating international audiences with his unique talent of playing multiple wind instruments simultaneously.
